Motivational Quotes

To fulfill a dream, to be allowed to sweat over lonely labor, the be given a chance to create, is the meat and potatoes of my life. The money is the gravy.--Bette Davis

I find the quotes by Bette Davis interesting, because she shows both internal and external motivation regarding her work in film. In her quote about grocery money, she is using the external motivator of financial security as a motivation for making motion pictures, while in her quote about improving her work, she internalizes her motivation by disclosing her desires to do high-quality work. The meat and potatoes quote is my favorite, because she expresses the motivation that most of us feel in regards to our careers, internally we may feel the need to work hard, but we are also motivated by the "gravy" or monetary rewards that come from working.
